Lightwheel AI Open Source Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: July 3, 2025
These Open Source Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your download and use of 3D digital assets ("Assets") from Lightwheel AI (referred to as "we," "us," "our") through our website https://www.lightwheel.ai/ and specifically through our assets page at https://www.lightwheel.ai/assets-list and our GitHub repository (collectively, the "Site"): https://github.com/LightwheelAI/Lightwheel-simready-asset. By downloading or using Assets, you agree to be bound by these Terms and the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download or use Assets.

1. Open Source Availability
- Free Access: All Assets are provided free of charge under the Creative Commons AttributionNonCommercial 4.0 International License and are available for download by anyone without payment or account creation requirements.
- Download Process: Users can browse our list of 3D Assets at https://www.lightwheel.ai/assets-list or on our GitHub repository and download them directly without any purchase process.
- No Download Limits: There are no restrictions on the number of Assets that can be downloaded.
2. Asset Description and Purpose
The Assets offered are 3D digital models in USD format (.usd, .usdz) specifically optimized for NVIDIA Isaac Sim. The intended purpose of these Assets includes, but is not limited to, simulation and training robots on these Assets. We endeavor to describe and display our Assets accurately. However, we do not warrant that the descriptions are error-free.
3. License and Use of Assets
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License
All Assets are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). The full text of this license can be found at https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/ and is included in the LICENSE file in our repository.
NON-COMMERCIAL USE ONLY
ASSETS ARE STRICTLY LIMITED TO NON-COMMERCIAL USE UNDER THIS LICENSE.
Rights Granted for Non-Commercial Use
Under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, you are granted the right to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the Assets in any medium or format
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the Assets
- Use — use the Assets for personal, educational, and research purposes
Non-Commercial Definition
"NonCommercial" means not primarily intended for or directed towards commercial advantage or monetary compensation. This includes but is not limited to:
- Personal projects and learning
- Academic research and education
- Open source projects that do not generate revenue
- Educational institutions and coursework
- Research publications and presentations
Commercial Use Prohibited
The following uses are PROHIBITED under this license:
- Use in products or services offered for sale
- Use in commercial training or simulation environments
- Use in business operations or commercial research
- Use to develop products or services for commercial distribution
- Use in any profit-making activity, directly or indirectly
- Use by commercial entities for business purposes
4. Required Attribution
Attribution Requirements
Under CC BY-NC 4.0, you must provide appropriate attribution when using any Assets: Required Attribution Format: Use the naming convention lightwheel_{asset_name} and include proper credit.
Examples:
- For an Asset named "kitchen_table": lightwheel_kitchen_table
- For an Asset named "robot_arm": lightwheel_robot_arm
Where to Include Attribution:
- In any publication or presentation using the Assets
- In documentation or credits
- In any distributions or derivative works
- In user interfaces where Assets are displayed
- In source code or project files
Full Attribution Statement
Include this attribution statement: "This work uses assets from Lightwheel AI (lightwheel.ai) licensed under CC BY-NC 4.0."
5. Commercial Licensing
Commercial Use Requires Separate License
If you wish to use Assets for commercial purposes, you MUST:
- Contact Lightwheel AI at haibo.yang@lightwheel.ai BEFORE any commercial use
- Negotiate and execute a separate commercial license agreement
- Pay applicable commercial licensing fees as determined by Lightwheel AI
NO COMMERCIAL USE IS PERMITTED WITHOUT EXPRESS WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION FROM LIGHTWHEEL AI.
6. AI Model Training and Machine Learning
Assets may be used for AI model training and machine learning purposes ONLY for noncommercial purposes under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license. Any commercial AI training requires a separate commercial license agreement.
7. Technical Specifications
Asset Formats
- Primary Format : USD (.usd, .usdz) - NVIDIA Isaac Sim native format
- Physics Properties: Realistic material properties and collision data
- Textures: High-resolution PBR textures and materials
- Articulation: Pre-configured joints for interactive objects
- Testing: Validated with Isaac Lab, teleoperation, and RL workflows
Isaac Sim Compatibility
- Version: Compatible with Isaac Sim 2023.1.1 and newer
- Import: Direct drag-and-drop support
- Interaction: Use Shift + Left Mouse Button for articulated objects (doors, drawers, etc.)
8. Warranty Disclaimer
AS PROVIDED UNDER THE CC BY-NC 4.0 LICENSE, THE ASSETS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTIES OF TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
We do not provide technical support, updates, or maintenance for the Assets, though community contributions are welcome.
9. Limitation of Liability
AS PROVIDED UNDER THE CC BY-NC 4.0 LICENSE, IN NO EVENT SHALL LIGHTWHEEL AI BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE ASSETS OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE ASSETS.
10. Enforcement and Violations
License Violation Consequences
Violation of the non-commercial restriction will result in:
- Immediate termination of your rights under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license
- Requirement to cease all use of the Assets immediately
- Potential legal action for copyright infringement
- Obligation to pay damages and legal fees
Reporting Commercial Use
If you become aware of unauthorized commercial use of our Assets, please report it to haibo.yang@lightwheel.ai.
11. Contributions and Modifications
Contributions to the project are welcome! Any contributions will be licensed under the same CC BY-NC 4.0 terms. When sharing modified Assets, you must:
- Clearly indicate modifications made
- Maintain the same CC BY-NC 4.0 license
- Provide proper attribution to Lightwheel AI
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
13. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on our Site and GitHub repository with at least thirty (30) days' notice. Your continued use of the Assets after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, such provision will be changed and interpreted to accomplish the objectives of such provision to the greatest extent possible under applicable law, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
15. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lightwheel AI regarding your use of the Assets.
